Chaise Lounge Outdoor Furniture

Chaise lounge outdoor furniture can be rather costly. However, the costs can be lowered by a person purchasing the items required and constructing it himself. This can help lower the cost of acquiring the dear furniture. Here are some steps a person can use to make a patio lounge outdoor chair :

1. Choose the right kind of wood: Since this is a chair that is exposed to weather elements, hardwood is recommended. For instance, oak can be a suitable choice. Softwood normally wears out easily as a result of weather elements. This reduces its durability a lot.

2. Take accurate wood measurements: The wood should be measured correctly to ensure less or no wastage. This is achieved by use of tape measure and a pencil marker. The stands of the chair should be about six inches long. The wood used should be 2 by 4 boards. The leaning part should be made out of two 2 by 4 boards that can be as long as possible. Note that when you use short boards to make the leaning part, the chair becomes narrow. It is also advisable to make the wood smooth before you start assembling it. A smooth texture can be attained by use of a manual ladder or sand paper.

3. The measurements of the dowel should be the same size as the wood used to make the back of the chair. However, the backside should be a little bit longer like four inches so that they can overlap with the two by four boards. The leaning board requires 1 by 2 boards. After cutting all this wood, cut another set of wood of similar measurements and number. The second set of wood pieces should however be cut from 1 by 3 boards.

4. Cut backrest supports. These supporters are required to start from the base of the backrest. Cut two 1 by 2 boards at a distance of four inches behind the backrest. Cut semi circles at a few inches spacing. The holes that results are later used to make the reclining system of the chair.

5. Stands are made of 2 by 4 boards. Armrests of about 2 feet are recommended. Two vertical pieces are also cut. They determine the height of the armrest. These vertical pieces are attached to the horizontal pieces by use of screws.

6. The two frame sections' end pieces are riveted together using screws to the 2 by 4 frame pieces on each side. Then rivet the legs into the frame of the seat. Rivet the seat and the backrest to the frame too.
